Porvoo-Strömfors - Old Viipuri Road Historical Route

This approximately 90-kilometer route follows the Old Viipuri Road, offering cyclists the opportunity to explore the area’s historical manors, beautiful nature, and traditional rural landscapes. Along the way, you can visit places like Bosgård Manor, Ilola Postimäki, and Malmgård Castle, as well as enjoy the charm of Loviisa.

The route starts from the Old Town of Porvoo and continues through Bosgård to the village of Ilola, which has Finland’s best-preserved tenant farm area. Through Koskenkylä and Malmgård, the route proceeds towards Pernaja, where you can learn about Mikael Agricola’s history and visit the 15th-century Pernaja Church. Stop for a swim at Pernaja’s delightful beach and continue cycling towards Loviisa, where you can enjoy the charming shops and cafes of the small town.

From Loviisa, the route continues via Ahvenkoski to the Strömfors Ironworks. The route can be cycled in one day, but there are also opportunities to stay overnight and explore the historical and natural sites of the area at your own pace.
