Kotka Sculpture Promenade
Kotka Sculpture Promenade is Finland’s biggest outdoor gallery.
Running through Haukkavuori Park and Kotka City Port, the Sculpture Promenade is more than two kilometres in length.
The lime tree boulevard along Keskuskatu was renovated between 1996 and 2001.
It received the 2001 Environmental Structure Award in the same year that the first sculptures were unveiled.
The lime alley along Keskuskatu and the other two related parks, Toivo Pekkanen Park and Sibelius Park, form a magnificent sculpture park featuring contemporary art, the Kotka Sculpture Promenade. The aim is to create a versatile park presenting mainly Finnish top sculptures that will enrich the cityscape.
In 2004, the Association of Finnish Sculptors awarded the Sculpture Promenade the Pro Sculptura medal.
